The Advantages of Supine CT
Cone Beam Computed Tomography
CT (Computed Tomography) scans are typically performed with the patient lying in a supine position for several reasons:
1. Comfort and Stability: The supine position (lying on the back) provides comfort and stability for the patient during the
scan. It allows them to relax and remain still, reducing the chances of motion artifacts that could affect image quality.
2. Consistency and Standardization: By having patients lie in a supine position, CT scans can be performed in a
consistent and standardized manner. This helps ensure that images are acquired in a reproducible manner, making it
easier for radiologists to compare scans over time or between different patients.
3. Patient Safety: The supine position is generally considered safer for patients during the scanning process. It provides
better access to medical personnel if any intervention or assistance is required during the procedure.
4. Anatomical Reference: The supine position allows for easier anatomical reference and alignment. It helps to define
anatomical landmarks consistently, facilitating accurate interpretation and diagnosis by radiologists.

Larger, Consistent Field-of-View
Traditional flat panel detectors have a limited field-of-view and can miss vital anatomical information, the Claris V captures more important diagnostic image data in a single exposure with its large format 17X17 inch sensor. Cesium Sensor technology reduces dose and improves CT resolution at very high frame capture rates, reducing movement artifacts and improving patient outcomes.
